The World Tunnel Congress 2019 takes place in Naples, Italy from 3rd to 9th May 2019. It is an international happening dedicated to engineering for underground constructions. The spectacular location of Mostra d’Oltremare exhibition will host the 45th ITA-AITES General Assembly together with numerous information events.
Planetek Italia will join the event with its own exhibition space to present its geoinformation solutions and services based on satellite imagery, designed to provide knowledge of the infrastructures and the surrounding environment during the whole project life cycle: design, production, management and maintenance, decommissioning.
The World Tunnel Congress represents a great international meeting opportunity with operators dealing with underground operations, especially with tunnels, engineering and innovation. Besides the traditional topics of the industry, this year some “made in Italy” milestones will be discussed, such as history (archeology), design (architecture), brilliance and creativity (art), which for the occasion will be named as “triple A”.
The event is coordinated by Società Italiana Gallerie (SIG), the Italian Tunnel Association, founded in 1974, which counts 700 members among universities, governmental bodies and private labels. The goal is to promote and coordinate research in the field of tunnels and underground works, together with the International Tunneling and Underground Space Association (ITA-AITES), which promotes the use of tunnels and underground spaces.
Infrastructures and environment continuously under control thanks to satellites
Planetek Italia will join the event (stand n.55 Pav.10), aiming to show how companies and professionals in the industry can take advantage of Space in decision-making and operations. In particular, data collected with satellites can provide rapid and accurate information over large areas, providing a decisive support to design and monitoring activities over infrastructures.
With many years of experience in the Earth Observation industry applied to engineering activities, Planetek Italia provides process-oriented solutions, which allow engineering companies to take care of the environment, prevent risks for infrastructures and constantly monitor them and the surrounding environment. Besides acquisition and processing of satellite data, Planetek will present Rheticus®, the innovative cloud- based platform providing automated geoinformation services. Based on satellite data, it provides information as maps, reports and geospatial indexes designed for monitoring phenomena and earth dynamics.
