The ESA EO Φ-WEEK 2021 will be held online as a virtual event on 11-15 October 2021.
Φ-week is the annual Earth Observation event organised by ESA-EOP. It focuses on innovation in Earth Observation, and showcases the latest achievements in Earth Observation science, technology and applications.
The ESA Φ-week 2021 focuses on New Space Economy and its contribution to EU Green Deal, to the concept of Digital Twin Earth, the Destination Earth initiative, UN SDGs and, generally, to EU Space strategy.
Digital Twin Earth is an AI-driven digital replica of our planet that converts the full power of AI, Earth Science and Modeling, cloud computing and Earth-scale environmental, societal and economical data into actionable insights for scientist, political and economic decision makers.
The Φ-week includes a variety of events (e.g. inspiring talks, workshops, roundtables, startup pitch, hackathons) to connect multi-disciplinary communities - from EO researchers, data scientists, non-space corporates, tech leaders, entrepreneurs, up to startup and innovators - to explore together how EO Open Science and innovation can benefit from the latest digital technologies and help shapeFutureEO missions and services.
The Φ-week will explore the concept of EO systems system, which could combine the European Earth monitoring capacity built through the Copernicus program with national and private initiatives (ongoing and planned). This system of systems, powered by disruptive technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (Machine Learning), IoT, Blockchains, or Quantum Technologies, will provide what we might call our future Earth Intelligence system.
Every year, Planetek Italia and Planetek Hellas join the event with presentations on the latest research activities and industry-focused marketable solutions in the Earth Observation and Space segment fields.
